The Combined Effects of Ethylene and MeJA on Metabolic Profiling of Phenolic Compounds in Catharanthus roseus Revealed by Metabolomics Analysis

Phenolic compounds belong to a class of secondary metabolites and are implicated in a wide range of responsive mechanisms in plants triggered by both biotic and abiotic elicitors. In this study, we approached the combinational effects of ethylene and MeJA (methyl jasmonate) on phenolic compounds profiles and gene expressions in the medicinal plant Catharanthus roseus. In virtue of a widely non-targeted metabolomics method, we identified a total of 34 kinds of phenolic compounds in the leaves, composed by 7 C6C1-, 11 C6C3-, and 16 C6C3C6 compounds. The research aims to extract nutrients and bioactive compounds from spirulina using a non-toxic, environmentally friendly and efficient method—Pressurized Liquid Extraction (PLE). In this work, Response Surface Methodology (RSM)–Central Composite Design (CCD) was used to evaluate and optimize the extraction time (5–15 min), temperature (20–60 °C) and pH (4–10) during PLE extraction (103.4 bars). On the mechanism of the addition of organolithium reagents to cinnamic acids

Abstract The regioselectivity of the addition of tert-butyllithium to cinnamic acid is subject to reaction conditions and to substituent electronic effects. Significant effects are observed in the presence of several additives including a radical trap such as α-methylstyrene. Competition experiments by addition of the organolithium reagent to mixtures of substituted cinnamic acids show that the relative rates of both conversion of the starting acids and formation of the 1,3-adducts are subject to electronic effects, whereas rates for 1,4-addition are independent of the substituents.
